Everything we did from swimming with hawksbill turtles to supporting the work of local conservationists to snorkeling around the stunning coral reefs fed our hearts, minds and souls. The second we got on the plane, we started planning for our return! It was amazing to have Julie’s expertise and Kristy’s incredible planning skills, without which this trip would not have been the same. First I spent a month in Tanzania, on Mafia Island, interning at an eco-tourism business Kitu Kiblu there I trained to be a whale shark guide. swimming with whale sharks every day! as well a daily lesson in whale shark biology, fish biology and free diving, we also worked on whale shark ID using their unique spot pattern. All amazing knowledge and key skills for the marine conservation world.
